Hello Fellow Readers!
My name is Julia Marie Davis. For most of my career, I have been a PR and Crisis professional. I am excited to announce the publication of CATBIRD, in which a character who is based on my own life and experience, processes the beginning of the Ukraine War - through a filter: her own back yard. I hope you like the book and please let me know if you'd like to sign up for my monthly newsletter. Email Emma@catbird24.com.
My Story
✨ A Lifelong Dream Fulfilled: Meet Catbird! ✨
This October, I will fulfill a dream that’s been years in the making—I’m publishing my first novella, Catbird! Less than 100 pages, this fable is a personal milestone that I’m incredibly proud to share. Buy on Amazon at amzn.to/4dkZrKI.
I’m telling you my story not to boast, but to offer courage and encouragement—to those who dream, to those who try, and to those who keep going despite the odds. Here’s what I’ve learned along the way:
💡 TO ASK:
Sometimes, the boldest thing we can do is just ask. I reached out to the legendary poet Nikki Giovanni—completely out of the blue—and she gifted me with an incredible blurb for my book. When I received her email I cried tears of job for a full fifteen minutes...You never know what can happen unless you ask.
💪 TO DO:
In my mid twenties, I was a divorced single mom. Instead of succumbing to heartbreak, I embraced it as a fresh start. I left my job as a book editor, started a writing and ghostwriting business, and then moved to NYC with my five-year-old and grabbed life’s brass ring. I spent four amazing years working for an incredible real estate development company on 5th Avenue (we did the first project on 42nd street!), co-published my first business book at 30, and eventually moved back to Boston to spend the last few years with my beloved mother, Elaine.
I didn’t know then how important that time would be, but it became one of the greatest gifts of my life. My mother, who passed too soon at 64, was the queen of reinvention—her strength and spirit inspire me every day. For Elaine:
✨ TO NEVER STOP DREAMING:
I founded a PR company at 40, sold it at 50, and remarried at 53. My husband, now retired, is building our dream house while I continue to work, write, and pursue new adventures.
When the pandemic hit, I went to grad school (virtually) and earned my MFA in Creative Writing. This year, I’m publishing Catbird, working on three other books, and have had ten poems published since 2020.
🌟 TO GO FORWARD:
It’s never too late to define and chase your dreams.
Whether it’s asking for what you want, taking that bold leap, or reinventing yourself for the next chapter—you are limitless.
I’m beyond grateful for my communities - on Facebook, LinkedIN, Instagram and more...!
